"A lot of people have good intentions when it comes to working out or beginning a regular exercise program. After a few positive starts, however, many will find a myriad of reasons to "fall off the wagon". A customized workout plan with a personal trainer often can be the intervention someone needs to stay on track, which is exactly what you get with Laura Minor and Jenny Willis. Beyond providing motivation and accountability to keep you interested in exercise, they simply know their stuff --- from creating fun and targeted work-outs, to injury prevention guidance, to nutrition, to learning the right way to exercise." After years of struggling with unexpected "mid-life" weight gain, I succeeded in losing 16 pounds over the 12-week challenge. The biggest difference was being mindful of my food intake. After a few weeks of writing down everything I ate, I got a good feel for what 100 calories looks like. I came up with some 400-calorie breakfast and lunch menus, and pretty much stuck to those combinations. I also talked myself out of many snacks or extra helpings by asking myself, "Would I rather eat this now or be able to have a glass of wine at the end of day?" Remarkable how well that worked, especially since I often skipped the wine as well! The other big changes for me were eating breakfast and cutting out diet sodas. It's still hard to make myself eat first thing in the morning, but I don't miss the soda at all. I also found that if I stick to water whenever I eat out, I can rationalize the higher cost that often accompanies a healthier food decision. Besides, I'm worth it! Ann BriggsWhen I was pregnant I reached a weight that I never really thought I would. I gained a little over thirty pounds! I had a huge fear that I would never lose the weight. My mom informed me that it was okay to not lose the weight and that I would probably never fit into my old clothes again! This was a very scary thought to me. I was determined to lose the weight and get back into my clothes. I luckily found the trainers at So Be Fit. I lost a lot of my weight quickly with personal training sessions with Jenny. I heard about the Biggest Loser Challenge and thought that it would be a great opportunity to get into the best shape of my life. I faced some challenges while in the program, but Jenny and Deanna were there to help me. I have always had a tendency to choose not so healthy foods. This was probably my biggest challenge. The program helped me see that making healthy choices was not that hard. I really started to think about what I was eating, like is that cookie really worth the calories and fat? I guess I had never really thought about food before I just ate it. I definitely make much more conscious decisions about food. I now really pay attention to how I prepare my meals and make better choices when I go out to it. I also learned to challenge myself. I would let myself slack off with my workouts, but this program really showed me how I could push myself. I started to run, something I have never enjoyed doing. I now run three or four times a week and actually enjoy it. By changing the what I ate and making my workouts more beneficially I was able to lose eight pounds in the tweleve week program. I was so excited to step on that scale each week and see how much weight I had lost. The most exciting part of the whole thing is that I am back in my old clothes and actually weigh less than I did when I got pregnant. I have more energy and feel much better about myself. The program is not just for people who want to lose lots of weight. It is for anyone who wants to make themselves healthier, stronger, and in the best shape they can be.
